PBIS - Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is an evidence-based, tiered framework used in Schmitt to improve academic and social behavior outcomes. It focuses on proactively teaching and reinforcing positive behavior rather than relying on punishment, aiming to create safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environments. PBIS is not a curriculum but it is a framework to identify needs, develop strategies, and evaluate practice toward building a positive school culture.

Schmitt students show lion pride daily by being safe, respectful and responsible at school. Our consistency, collaboration, and dedication to the ROAR expectations create a positive environment where students can thrive. We proudly announced that Schmitt Elementary has earned PBIS Gold Recognition in 2024-2025 school year!
