“The vision of Ray M. Schmitt Elementary School’s staff is high academic achievement for all students based on the shared belief that all students can learn.”

Dear Schmitt Families,
Welcome to the 2016 -2017 school year!
I am excited about continuing to work to highlight our Gold Ribbon School in providing the best overall education and service to our students. We will work with you to ensure the safety and academic success of all our students. In order to ensure this success, we need your support with our Positive Behavior Intervention System (PBIS) based on our core values of RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY and SAFETY. As we progress through the different aspects of strengthening our Positive Behavior program, you will be included and well informed. As a first step I will provide you with Schmitt’s Schoolwide Matrix of Behavioral Expectations which is also on our website for you to review with your child. Our classroom teachers will review and teach the essential classroom expectations that will help your student be successful with classroom procedures and with their peer interactions.
This school year, we will continue to teach and push our students to persevere and produce high quality work. We have many, many academic subjects to work on, but our main focus will be to raise the rigor and quality of writing for our students.
The information that comes from your child’s school is abundant and can be quite overwhelming, but it is very important for you and your child to make the time to go over school paperwork. I recommend that you set aside 15-20 minutes each night to check your child’s backpack to review any parent notes or to complete any necessary homework. I also encourage you to visit Schmitt’s website for information that you will find very helpful.
If you have any questions or concerns, you can call to set up an appointment at
